October 2005 Update Now Available
October 12, 2005

Dear ARBAonline Subscribers and Trial Users:

More than 100 reviews have just been added for the October update of ARBAonline. This month you'll find critical reviews of the most recently released print and online editions of reference materials in the areas of general reference, social sciences, humanities, and science and technology. Unlike many other review sources, ARBAonline aims to be as comprehensive as possible and features lengthier reviews that offer both positive and negative aspects of the work under review. Because ARBAonline has a roster of over 400 academic, public, and school librarians who are knowledgeable about the needs of their patrons, their recommendations for or against the purchase of a resource can help you keep your collection current and save you money in the process.

This month ARBAonline has added reviews of the following resources:

Ancient Mesopotamia (ABC-CLIO)
Encyclopedia of Data Warehousing and Mining (Idea Group Publishing)
Expository Dictionary of Bible Words (Hendrickson)
Habitats of the World (Marshall Cavendish)
Identification and Geographical Distribution of the Mosquitoes of North America (University Press of Florida)
Internet Predators (Facts on File)
Peoples, Nations, and Cultures: An A-Z of the Peoples of the World, Past and Present (Sterling))
Reformation, Exploration, and Empire (Grolier))
Shapers of the Great Debate on the Civil War (Greenwood Press))
United States at War (Salem Press)
Women's Roles in the Renaissance (Greenwood Press)

We are currently working on reviews of the following resources for our November 2005 update:

America Speaks: The Birth of a Nation (Grolier)
Biographical Encyclopedia of Artists (Facts on File)
The Comparative Guide to American Suburbs, 2005 (Grey House)
Cyclopedia of Young Adult Authors (Salem Press)
Dictionary of Computer Vision and Image Processing (John Wiley)
Encyclopedia of Science, Technology, and Ethics (MacMillan Reference)
Facts on File Encyclopedia of Art (Facts on File)
Handbook of Chinese Mythology (ABC-CLIO))
Middle East, 10th edition (CQ Press)
Neal-Schuman Directory of Public Library Job Descriptions (Neal-Schuman)
World of Forensic Science (Gale Group)

As ARBAonline strives to bring you the most up-to-date information on reference materials available, we continue to rely on your comments and suggestions in order to make this resource as valuable and user-friendly as possible. We look forward to your feedback!
